SELINSGROVE - Junior Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) had 20 assists to pass the 3,000 career assist mark for The University of Scranton volleyball team Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough, as host and top-seeded Susquehanna captured a 3-0 win over the Royals in the 2019 Landmark Conference Semifinals (25-12, 25-19, 25-17).
With the defeat, the Royals finish off the 2019 season with a 15-18 overall mark, while Susquehanna advances to Saturday's Landmark Conference championship game with the win, where the River Hawks (now 31-5) will take on Juniata.
On the night, Susquehanna was able to take control in each set early, as they coasted to their second 3-0 win over Scranton on the 2019 season.
Overall, Norman shined once again setting up the attack for the Royals in the tough defeat, as her 20-assist night put her at 3,010 assists for her career. Norman will enter her final season in the Scranton program in 2020 ranked fifth all-time in career assists, as she posted at least 20 assists in the final eight games she played in 2019.
Elsewhere, freshman Carah Vitkus (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) finished off her freshman campaign with seven kills, while sophomore Molly Dunfee (King of Prussia, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) led the defense with seven digs on the evening.
The contest was also the last for senior's Victoria Capogna (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Kristin Bush (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) of Scranton. Capogna ended the night with three kills and three total blocks, while Bush had seven digs on defense.
Susquehanna was led in the victory by Rosina Espositio who had 11 kills, a match-high.
