CLERMONT, Fla. - Junior Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) went 3-for-4 to record her 100th career hit as a Royal, as The University of Scranton softball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater State on Wednesday at the Legends Way Ballfields.

In the Royals' first game of the day, they dropped a 7-1 decision to Ursinus. With the spilt, Scranton is now 5-3 overall on the season.

In the Bridgewater St. game, Scranton fell behind 2-0 in the top of the fourth, before finally cracking the scoreboard with a run in the bottom half of the frame. The big inning for the Royals, however, was the fifth, as they scored three times to go up, 4-2, on Bridgewater St.

In the inning, sophomore Jennifer Sweeney (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) had an RBI double that tied the game up at 2-2, then the Royals took the lead after Zinn scored on a Bridgewater St. error. The go-ahead run then came on sophomore Allie Hotchkiss' (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W. Baker) RBI single, which scored fellow sophomore Ryann Kemmerling (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community).

Up 4-2 entering the sixth inning, Dowdell, who started the game in the pitching circle, gave up a run, but was able to wiggle out of a jam, as she struck out a Bridgewater St. batter to strand two on base and keep the Royals in the lead.

In the seventh, Dowdell retired three of the four batters she faced to clinch the win, her third of the short season (3-0).

Overall, Zinn led the way in the win, going 3-for-4 to become the 23rd student-athlete in program history to record 100 hits in her career. Zinn, who scored a run in the game, also stole two bases in the win, as well. Elsewhere, freshman Jessica Indelicato (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Hotchkiss finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the pitching circle, Dowdell tossed a complete game, striking out six in the victory.

In the first game of the day for the Royals, Ursinus jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth inning and never looked back, as Scranton scored one run on just five hits. Sweeney, now 2-2 on the year in the pitching circle, took the loss after allowing three earned runs on eight hits, with four strikeouts.

At the plate in the Ursinus loss, sophomore Mackenzie Duffy (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) was 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the way.

The University of Scranton women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, as they conclude their Spring Break slate of games with match-ups against Coast Guard (9 a.m.) and Stockton (1:30 p.m.).
