SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's track & field team continued its strong season on Saturday, posting seven top-10 finishes at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna.
The Royals placed a pair of runners in the top-10 of the 5,000 meter run led by sophomore Rachel Kerr (Dickson City, Pa./Scranton Prep), who finished third with a time of 18:49.77. Freshman Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) followed in fifth place with a mark of 19:06.49.
Scranton also had a pair of jumpers finish in the top-10 of the high jump. Junior Caroline Banas (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) placed sixth with a leap of 1.55 meters while freshman Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) took ninth by clearing the bar at 1.50 meters.
Junior Chrissy Noonan (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) brought home a 10th place result in the 100 meter hurdles after crossing the stripe in 17.21 seconds.
In the 4x100 meter relay, Scranton finished sixth as Noonan, Banas, freshman Lea Credido (Denville, N.J./Mountain Lakes), and junior Jasmin Russo (Hamden, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) combined for a time of 54.42.
The Royals placed 10th in the 4x400 meter relay as freshmen Ariana Baldwin (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y../St. Joseph Hill Academy), Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls), and junior Nora Boussatta (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) clocked in at 4:26.30.
Scranton will compete in the NEPA Challenge hosted by Keystone on Friday starting at 3 p.m. in La Plume, Pa.
