WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Junior Caroline Banas (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and freshman Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) both won events for The University of Scranton women's track & field team to lead the Royals at the King's Holiday Invitational which was held on Wednesday and Thursday.
Banas won the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters while George took first in the 800 meter run, clocking a winning time of 2:28.10.
Junior Chrissy Noonan (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 2.13 meters. Noonan also brought home a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash after clocking in at 17.39 seconds.
Freshman Ariana Baldwin (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) finished fifth in the 100 meter dash after crossing the stripe in 13.84 seconds and was also fifth in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 27.79.
Freshman Lea Credido (Denville, N.J./Mountain Lakes) placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.16 seconds and placed eighth in the 200 meter dash with a pace of 29.15.
Freshman Katherine Fafian (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) finished seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 22.01 meters
The Royals will next compete at the Monarch Open hosted by King's on Saturday, April 27 starting at 9:30 a.m. The meet will be Scranton's final competition before the Landmark Conference Championships which will be held May 4-5 at Goucher.
