YORK, Pa. - The University of Scranton volleyball team had three players hit double-figures in kills, as the Royals salvaged a split on the day at York (Pa.) with a 3-2 win over the host Spartans.
In their first game of the day, Scranton fell to Stevenson, 3-1. With the results, the Royals moved to 4-2 overall on the year.

In the nightcap against York, the Royals eventually pulled away in the final set after a back and forth affair with the host Spartans.
In the victory, Scranton had three players hit double-figures on the attack, paced by freshman Carah Vitkus (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac), who finished with 12 kills to go along with six blocks (four of which were solos). Elsewhere, junior Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and freshman Caileigh Cox (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) had 10 kills, apiece.
Norman finished with 27 assists and three solo blocks, while Cox had a triple-double for the second straight game, finishing with 19 assists and 10 digs, to go along with four solo blocks. Elsewhere, junior libero Regina Schetroma (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) had 23 digs in the win, a season-high.

In their first game of the day against unbeaten Stevenson, Scranton was unable to rally back from a 2-0 deficit, as the Mustangs bounced back from a 25-22 loss in game three to the Royals to take a four-set victory.
In the defeat for Scranton, Vitkus had a big game, finishing with 15 kills, three digs, and two solo blocks. Norman and junior Tess Ungerleider (Springboro, Ohio/Archbishop Alter) had 10 kills, apiece, with Norman recording a triple-double of her own with 22 assists an 12 digs. Junior Kyra Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Township), meanwhile, led the team with 23 assists and 12 digs in the loss.
The University of Scranton volleyball tea returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Cortland to continue their road trip. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
