Royals News & Notes

  • After falling in both games to Moravian last Wednesday, the Royals came back in a big way over the weekend in a four-game sweep of Susquehanna to improve to 12-2 overall and in the Landmark.
  • Leading Scranton all weekend was junior catcher Heather Alich (Bath, Pa./Northampton Area) who batted .615 for the weekend, going 8-for-13 with two homers, two doubles, and five RBI's. She also scored four runs in the sweep of the River Hawks. For her efforts, she was named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week on Monday.

  • Thursday's doubleheader could be a historic one for graduate student Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), as the Royals' centerfielder is a hit away from breaking the school record for most career hits and one double short of doing the same in that career category. Entering the games, Zinn has 186 career hits and 46 doubles, which match school records in both categories.
  • Moravian comes into the doubleheader still unbeaten at 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Landmark. The Greyhounds are in a tie for 10th nationally in the latest NFCA Division III Top 25.
  • Moravian has not played since last Wednesday against Scranton, as the Greyhounds had a four-game set with Drew last weekend postponed.
