HOBOKEN, N.J. - Junior Carah Vitkus (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) hammered home a game-high 11 kills to lead the attack, as The University of Scranton volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over Stockton in the 2021 Castle Point Challenge at Stevens Friday afternoon.
With the win, Scranton moved to 8-2 overall, while Stockton fell to 3-7 in the loss.
In all three sets, Scranton broke open close games to roll to three straight victories, and in the process notch their fourth 3-0 win of the year.
Overall, Vitkus recorded her fourth double-digit kill game of the 2021 season, as she hit an impressive .320 in the victory. Elsewhere, senior Eryn Boken (South Pasadena, Calif./Westridge School For Girls) continued her strong play for the Royals, finishing with nine kills and seven block-assists up front.
Elsewhere, junior Caileigh Cox (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) set up the strong Royals attack all game, finishing with 37 assists, while on the defensive end, senior Molly Dunfee (King of Prussia, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) led the way with 20 digs. Meanwhile, sophomore Stephanie Margolies (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) had 13 digs and finished with seven kills on offense.
The University of Scranton volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, when they take on Clarkson at 1 p.m. and host Stevens at 6 p.m. to finish off the 2021 Castle Point Challenge.
