Healy's Late Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Past Moravian, 1-0

Box Score

BETHLEHEM, PA (October 15, 2022) -- Sophomore Niamh Healy (Orangeburg, N.Y. / Tappan Zee) scored the eventual game-winner in the 86th minute to lead The University of Scranton women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Moravian on Saturday afternoon at John Makuvek Field.

With the win Colleen Pivirotto's squad improves to 11-2-1 on the year and 5-0-0 in the conference.

Healy had the first shot of the game in the opening minute of action but had her chance saved by Moravian's goalkeeper Payce Korpics. The Greyhounds had a solid chance of their own in the 10th minute when they nearly converted on a corner kick but failed to hit the frame on the shot.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Olson (Stoughton, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) made her first save of the game in the 23rd minute when she stopped an effort from Emma Lenthe. The game remained scoreless headed into halftime.

Healy made her mark on the game in the final five minutes of action as she scored an unassisted goal that would prove the difference in a 1-0 decision.  Scranton dominated on the offensive end and outshot the Greyhounds 18-3 in the contest. Olson finished the game with two saves for the Royals.

The women's soccer team returns to action next Saturday when they head to Susquehanna for a 4:00 PM kickoff in Selinsgrove, PA.
