SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The University of Scranton softball team (15-10, 3-3 Landmark) dropped a pair of Landmark Conference contests to the Susquehanna River Hawks (16-6, 4-0 Landmark) on Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Softball Field in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna won game one 1-0 and captured a 9-1 decision in five innings in game two.

Game One

The River Hawks scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as a walk, single and hit by pitch loaded the bases with two away before Morgan Henry's go-ahead RBI single.

Scranton put the leadoff runner on in the top of the seventh as senior Jessica Indelicato (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) drew a leadoff walk, but Katie Murphy struck out the side following the walk.

Freshman Emma Tirollo (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) was dealt the tough luck loss for the Royals after surrendering one run on four hits in six innings of work.

Murphy earned the win for Susquehanna as she allowed just one hit and fanned 14 in a complete game effort.

Game Two

Indelicato reached on an error in the first inning, took second on a hit by pitch, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball for a 1-0 Royals edge. Henry hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second to open the scoring for Susquehanna who plated two in the second, three in the third and two apiece in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Graduate student Jennifer Sweeney (Wind Gap, Pa./Dumont) was dealt the loss for the Royals as she allowed five runs on four hits while walking two and fanning one in two plus innings.
