SCRANTON, Pa. – Four different student-athletes all won two events apiece and The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team notched a 238-51 victory over the Marywood Pacers in dual meet action on Saturday at Marywood.
The Royals are now 3-0 on the season in dual meets.
Freshman Thomas Nappi (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) won both the 100 back with a time of 1:00.43 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.61, while classmate Sam Peters (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic) captured first place in the 200 free in 1:48.34 and the 500 free in 5:10.06.
Sophomore Matt Sherry (Glenside, Pa./La Salle College) won the 50 free in 22.66 seconds and the 100 free with a time of 50.32 seconds and fellow sophomore Mike Finley (New Milford, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) recorded victories in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.14 and the 200 IM in 2:07.54.
Elsewhere for the Royals, freshman Chris Clarke (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:52.31, freshman Conor Doogan (Shrewsbury, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) took home first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.20 and freshman Brian Anzalone (Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) won the 200 fly in 2:10.99. Senior Scott Majka (Marysville, Pa./Trinity) also added a first place finish in the 100 fly in 54.07 seconds.
The Royals capped things off with victories in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
On the diving boards, senior Alexander Drake (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) won the three-meter event with 178.95 points.
Scranton will host Catholic in a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Byron Recreation Complex.
