Box Score Scranton, PA -- The Lycoming College men's soccer team scored early in the second half to defeat The University of Scranton men's soccer team 1-0 in a physical Landmark Conference matchup at Weiss Field on Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Royals fall to 6-2-2 on the season and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Lycoming recorded the first shot on goal of the game in the 21st minute as Owen Magee had his effort saved by sophomore goalkeeper
Charlie Smith (Devon, Pa. / Conestoga). Freshman
Matt Capretto (Hockessin, Del. / Charter School of Wilmington) recorded the only shot of the first half for the Royals which was saved by Lycoming's goalkeeper Nick Wilke in the 26th minute.Â
Neither side was able to get on the board in the opening half as the game remained tied at 0-0 headed into halftime.
The Warriors found the opening goal of the game in the first minute of the second half as Javan Aching found the back of the net to give Lycoming a 1-0 lead over the Royals. Scranton's best chance of the game came in the 83rd minute as freshman
Drew Paxson (Elkins Park, Pa. / Abington) found the ball in the 18-yard box off a free kick and hit the left post.

Lycoming would go on to win by a final score of 1-0. Junior
Ciaran Corr (Newtown Square, Pa. / Marple Newtown) led the Royals with two shots including one on goal.Â
The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday for another Landmark matchup at Goucher at 1:00 PM.Â
