SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior Aviah Dahlgren (Honesdale, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) won three events for a second consecutive week and The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team remained unbeaten in dual meet action with a 172-90 victory over the Misericordia Cougars on Friday night at the Byron Recreation Complex in Scranton.
With the victory, the Royals are now 6-0 on the season.
- · Dahlgren captured the 200 free with a time of 2:01.60, the 200 back in 2:14.04 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.37. The Honesdale, Pa., native proved to be dominant in each event as each victory came by more than a second.
- · Freshman Kim Gingrass (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) added a victory in the 1,000 free for Scranton with a time of 10:56.03, which is the third-fastest in program history. Gingrass also won the 500 free in 5:20.38, marking the ninth-best clip in program history.
- · Other winners for the Royals included senior Alyssa Benzija (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.23 and junior Alanna Kelly (Yonkers, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) who won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.56, just .04 seconds ahead of Misericordia's Lindsey Rice who took second in 1:10.60.
- · Senior Kayleigh Olszewski (Conshocken, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) added a first-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:19.21 and classmate Michelle Kong (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) took first in the 100 fly in 1:01.88.
- · In the 200 free relay, the quartet of Benzija, Gingrass, freshman Gianna Horen (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and senior Giavanna Baquerizo (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) swam home in 1:43.31 for the victory.
The Royals are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Hartwick for a tri-match against the host Hawks and Stevens that will get underway at 1 p.m.
