ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team dropped a tri-meet to Hartwick and Stevens on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool on the campus of Hartwick College in Oneonta.
Scranton dropped a tough 153-146 decision to the Hawks and a 174.5-116.5 decision to Stevens and is now 6-2 in dual meets on the year.Â
·      Sophomore Jimmy O'Malley (Maple Glen, PA/ LaSalle College) came in first place in the 1,000 free finishing with a time of 10:13.73, nearly two seconds ahead of Hartwick's Cameron Drake who took second in 10:15.58. O'Malley also later added a second place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.70.
·      In the 200 free, freshman Samuel Peters (West Hartford, Conn./ Northwest Catholic) came in second as he touched the wall in 1:49.72.
·      On the diving boards, senior Alexander Drake (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) finished third in the one-meter event as he tallied 165.35 points.
·      Freshman Alex Iannone (Moscow, Pa./Scranton Prep) took second in the 200 back in 2:06.74 and O'Malley notched another second place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:58.06.
·      The Royals placed third in the 400 free relay as the quartet of sophomore Matt Sherry (Glenside, Pa./LaSalle College), O'Malley, senior Scott Majka (Marysville, Pa./Trinity) and junior James Cava (Chatham, N.J./Morris County School of Technology) clocked a time of 3:18.50.
Scranton is back in action on Friday, Dec. 1 for the Gettysburg Invitational that is slated to get underway at 6 p.m.
