SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior Aviah Dahlgren (Honesdale, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) won three individual events and The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team rolled to a 196-63 victory over the Dickinson Red Devils in dual meet action on Saturday afternoon at the Byron Recreation Complex in Scranton.
The Royals remain unbeaten in dual meets on the season and now sit at 5-0.
Dahlgren captured the 200 free with a time of 2:01.07, just .06 seconds ahead of Dickinson's Tori May who took second in 2:01.13. She later added a first place finish in the 200 back in 2:16.13 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.68.
Elsewhere for Scranton, freshman Kim Gingrass (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and junior Alanna Kelly (Yonkers, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) each won two events apiece as Gingrass took first place in the 1,000 free (11:02.55) and 100 free (56.19), while Kelly added victories in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.87) and 200 breaststroke (2:35.99).
Senior Alyssa Benzija (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) notched a first place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.12, sophomore Isabella Kane (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) took first place in the 200 fly with a time of 2:22.37 and senior Giavanna Baquerizo (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) won the 50 free in 26.14 seconds.
Fellow senior Michelle Kong (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) registered a first place finish in the 100 fly in 1:02.36.
In the 400 medley relay, Dahlgren, Kelly, Kong and Benzija swam a 4:10.08 to take first place and the quartet of Baquerizo, Gingrass, freshman Gianna Horen (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and Benzija added a first place finish in the 200 free relay in 1:43.79.
The Royals are back in action on Friday night versus Misercordia with the dual meet set to start at 6:30 p.m.
