WILKES BARRE, PA - The University of Scranton wrestling team was defeated 40-8 at Wilkes University on Friday evening.

With the loss, the Royals fall to 3-5 on the season.

• The Colonels won the opening five bouts of the night to get off to an early lead over the Royals.
• Graduate Student Jacob Burgette (Scranton, PA / Scranton) picked up the first win of the night for Scranton as he posted a 10-1 decision win over Trevor DuBoff of Wilkes in the 165 lbs. match.
• Captain Jeremiah Oakes (Scranton, PA / Scranton) followed up his fellow classmate with a 12-2 victory at 174 as he defeated Melquan Warren of Wilkes.
• The Colonels would go on to win the final three bouts of the night. 

The wrestling team returns to action next Sunday, February 4 at the Lycoming Invitational starting at 10:00 AM.
