SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton men's soccer team defeated Wilkes 7-0 on Wednesday night at Weiss Field.

How it Happened
- The Royals struck in the fifth minute of play as junior Preston Rushmore delivered a cross into the box and found senior Ciaran Corr right in front of the goal who fired the shot past the keeper into the net to put Scranton ahead 1-0.
- Just six minutes later, the Royals extended their lead to 2-0. Sophomore Matt Capretto took a pass from Corr, maneuvered between two defenders, and flicked a shot that slipped past Wilkes' goalie, who was caught well out of the net.
- Corr struck again for the Royals in the 19th minute. After settling the ball from a midfield pass from sophomore Alex Kozdron, he fired a shot with his left foot that deflected off a Wilkes player and into the net for the senior's second goal of the night.
- Less than two minutes later, the Royals earned a free kick just outside the box. Kozdron ripped a perfect shot that found the back right of the net just past the outstretched arms of the keeper for the goal.
- It took less than six minutes for the Royals to add on to their 5-0 lead in the second half. This time, Corr sent a ball downfield and Capretto raced past the Colonels' defense and flicked a shot past the goalie, extending the lead to 5-0.
- In the 61st minute of the contest, Rushmore lofted a ball into the box that found the head of junior Logan Campbell who flicked it past the keeper and into the far-right corner of the net.
- Senior Zach Simcsak capitalized in the 74th minute on a misplayed pass from a Colonel defender to their keeper. He got past the goalie and fired a shot with his left foot into the net, pushing the score to 7-0.
Top Performers
- Corr led the team with two goals and two assists.
- Capretto recorded the first multi-goal game of his career.
- Simcsak scored his first goal of the season.
- Junior goalkeeper Charlie Smith recorded one save in 72 minutes of play, and sophomore goalie Ned Van Loan made two saves in 17 minutes of action.
