Volleyball Wins Senior Day Match Against Moravian, 3-0

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton volleyball team defeated Landmark Conference opponent Moravian University 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the John Long Center. 

The Basics

  • Final Score: 3-0W (25-17, 25-20, 25-21)
  • Records: Scranton (15-11, 7-0 LC), Moravian (14-11, 2-5 LC)

How it Happened

  • Senior Catherine O'Sullivan finished the first set for the Royals with a kill that gave them the win, 25-17.
  • In the second, the Royals scored four straight points to take a two set advantage, 25-20. 
  • The Royals commanded a third-set lead after being tied with the Greyhounds 11-11. Moravian remained close but Scranton never let up the lead and finished the set 25-21. 

Top Performers

  • Senior Erin Keaveney recorded a game-high nine kills. 
  • Classmates Maddie Orth and O'Sullivan each recorded career-highs in the kill category, totaling eight and seven respectively. 
  • Senior Kaelie Chung finished with a game and career high 20 digs. 
  • Senior Gianna Detorie recorded 18 assists for the Royals 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Royals improved their Landmark record to 7-0, securing a first round bye in the playoffs. 
  • Scranton totaled eight service aces and six blocks as a team.
