Young Earns Most Outstanding Wrestler as Wrestling Posts Second Place Finish at Electric City Duals

SCRANTON, PA -- Freshman Donell Young was named Most Outstanding Wrestler as The University of Scranton wrestling team finished second out of eight teams, going 4-1 in the Electric City Duals at the John Long Center on Sunday. 

SUNY Oneonta finished in first place, followed by Scranton (A) in second and New Jersey City University in third.

Top Performers
  • Young went a perfect 5-0 on the day, earning one of just two wins for Scranton against Oneonta as he registered a 14-9 decision win over Mason Rappold. He posted an 18-1 tech fall win in the closely contested match against NJCU.
  • Graduate student Jacob Burgette also was undefeated for Scranton and earned a pin in just 19 seconds against Diego Viera of NJCU. Burgette also posted an 18-1 tech fall victory over Joel Zea of Oneonta.
  • Freshmen Luke Burke and Max Shnipes both posted strong performances as Burke pinned Michael Palinkas of Keystone and Shnipes recorded two pins against Jayden Reyes of NJCU (0:13) and Luciano Mazzeo of Rowan College of South Jersey (1:46).
