Men's Soccer Suffers Hard-Fought Defeat to Juniata in Landmark Semifinals

HUNTINGDON, PA -- The fourth seeded University of Scranton men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by top seeded Juniata College in the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Thursday night.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Alex Kozdron recorded the first shot on goal of the game in the eighth minute, but had his effort saved by Juniata's goalie Maxwell Mationi. 
  • The Eagles took the lead in the 28th minute as Shawn Tanaka received a pass at the far post from Jayden Gaynor and placed a first time shot into the right side of the net. 
  • Junior Logan Campbell had an effort saved by Mattioni in the 42nd minute. 
  • The Royals continued to press the action in the second half and forced three saves out of Mattioni, but weren't able to find an equalizer as Juniata went on to win 1-0.

  • Junior goalie Charlie Smith recorded five saves in net for Scranton.
  • Sophomore Drew Paxson took a team-high three shots.
