No. 9 Women's Soccer Set to Host Landmark Championship Against Lycoming on Saturday

The top seeded University of Scranton women's soccer team will host Saturday's Landmark Conference Championship game after their 5-0 semifinal victory against No. 4 seed Drew on Thursday night. The Royals will host the No. 2 seed Lycoming College at Weiss Field on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.

Championship Game Info

  • The championship game will take place on Saturday, No. 9 at 1:00 PM at Weiss Field in Scranton, PA.
  • Tickets: $10 for adults (18+), $5 for minors (10-17), free for children 9 and under, and Landmark students and faculty with ID. Cash will not be accepted at the venue. Click here to purchase tickets.

Scranton

  • Record: 16-1-2 (9-0-0, LC)
  • Last Landmark Championship: 2023
  • The Royals defeated Drew University 5-0 in the semifinals to earn their spot in the Landmark Title game. 
  • Scranton leads the Landmark in both goals per game (2.53) and goals against average (.32), a feat they have achieved in every season since 2021.
  • Head coach Colleen Pivirotto is in her 17th season at Scranton. Pivirotto is looking to guide the Royals to their fifth consecutive Landmark Championship win and the 11th in program history.

Royals to Watch

  • Graduate Student Niamh Healy currently leads the Landmark Conference in goals (13), points (30) and game-winning goals (8). The reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year tallied one goal and one assist in Thursday's semifinal match against Drew.
  • Freshman Aileen Carr anchors the defense in front of senior goalkeeper Nicole Olson. The Royals lead the Landmark and rank 11th in the nation with a 0.33 GAA. 

Lycoming

  • Record: 14-2-3 (6-2-1, LC)
  • Last Landmark Championship: N/A
  • Lycoming advanced to the championship after defeating No. 6 seeded Moravian University 2-1 in the semifinals on Thursday.
  • Lycoming ranks second in the Landmark behind Scranton in goals per game (2.05) and is fifth in the conference in goals against average (1.00).
  • Head coach Kenny Fern has been at the helm at Lycoming since 2017. Fern guided the Warriors to five straight winning seasons and now has the team in the Landmark Conference Championship for the first time in program history.

Warriors to Watch

  • Sophomore Mikayla Long is tied for the team lead in goals (9) and assists (3). The 2023 All-Conference First Team selection ranks second in the Landmark in goals and fourth in points.
  • Junior goalkeeper Riley Block has posted a record of 11-1-2 and a 0.66 goals against average in 16 appearances in 2024. Block leads the conference in save percentage (.898) and ranks top four in the Landmark in goals against average, saves and shutouts.

Championship Facts

  • This is the 14th straight Landmark Conference Championship appearance for Scranton. They are looking for their fifth consecutive title.
  • Lycoming is in the Landmark Championship game for the first time in program history.

Inside the Series

  • Scranton leads the all-time series 15-0. The Royals are 2-0 against the Warriors since 2023.
  • Earlier this season, the Royals defeated the Warriors 4-2. The game was tied 2-2 at half time, but junior Morgan Griffin and freshman Molly Martys each scored one goal in the second half to power the Royals to the win.
