Bennett Leads No. 4 Women's Basketball to 77-48 Win Over Colby in Final Game of Daytona Beach Shootout

DAYTONA BEACH, FL -- Sophomore Elizabeth Bennett scored a career-high 17 points to pace The University of Scranton women's basketball team in a 77-48 win over Colby College to close out the Daytona Beach Shootout on Monday.

  • Records: No. 4 Scranton (11-0, 4-0 LC), Colby (3-6)
How it Happened
  • Colby held a 12-8 advantage after the opening period and increased its lead to six points with a pair of free throws to begin the second quarter.
  • The Lady Royals closed out the first half with an 11-2 run, including seven points from Bennett, to take a 31-22 lead into halftime. 
  • Scranton held Colby scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the third period and out scored the Mules by 23 points in the quarter to go up 59-27.
  • The Lady Royals went on to win by a final score of 77-48. 
Top Performers
  • Bennett went 8-13 from the field for an efficient 17 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
  • Junior Kaci Kranson added 10 points and six boards, while classmate Kaeli Romanowski stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists.
  • Sophomores Meghan Lamanna and Natalie Stoupakis each hit a pair of threes for the Lady Royals.

  • Scranton's bench, led by Bennett, out scored Colby's bench 42-6 in the win.
  • The Lady Royals converted 17 points off turnovers.
