LA PLUME, PA -- Graduate Student captain
Jeremiah Oakes (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton) broke the program pins record with the 37th pin of his career as The University of Scranton wrestling team posted a dominant 33-11 win at Keystone on Wednesday evening.
Oakes took down the previous record of 36 which was set by
Will Laughlin last season.
Scranton 33, Keystone 11
- Following a forfeit at 125, junior Matthew DiGennaro (River Edge, N.J. / River Dell Regional) earned a 10-5 decision win over Malachi Jones at 133.
- At 141, sophomore Shkeb Nadir (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton) edged out Quinton Frampton in a 8-6 decision win for the Royals.
- Sophomore Kosta Mavrikidis (Warren, N.J. / Paramus Catholic) secured a 19-2 tech fall win over Michael Palinkas at 149.
- The 165 bout saw graduate student Jacob Burgette (Scranton, Pa. / Scranton) pin Codi Bomboy in just 1:17.
- Oakes wasted no time breaking the pins record as he pinned Dalten Klinges in just 29 seconds at 174.
- Freshman Quinten Laughlin (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) added another win for Scranton at 184 as he defeated Derrick DeMann 14-3.
The wrestling team returns to action this Saturday when they host the Scranton Duals at 11:30 AM in the John Long Center.
