MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Sarah Stepnowski (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe) tallied six hits on the day and broke the program's all-time triples record as The University of Scranton softball team (4-2) notched a pair of victories over Stevenson (1-3) and Keystone (1-3) on Monday in Myrtle Beach.
The Royals defeated Stevenson by a score of 8-2 to begin the day and then rolled past Keystone in a 16-3 victory in five innings.
Stepnowski now has 14 triples in her career, surpassing the previous record of 13 that had been held by Mary Ann Tarantino (1980-83).

Scranton got on the board immediately with five in the first and never looked back en route to the 8-2 victory.
A pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases in the top of the first and set the stage for a two-out, two-run single from sophomore Keira Corrigan (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) to give the Royals an early 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, a bases-loaded walk brought home a run and junior Kylie Rochford (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) delivered a two-run single of her own to make it a 5-0 game.
The Mustangs got one back in the home half of the first and added a solo run in the third, but were unable to get any closer than 5-2.
Lindsey Tolle took the loss for Stevenson as she allowed five runs on three hits while walking three in 2/3 IP.
Freshman Juliana Janezic (Southington, Conn./Cheshire Academy) turned in a complete-game effort for the Royals as she gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits to go along with a walk and two strikeouts over 7.0 IP. The Southington, Conn., native retired the final seven batters she faced on the day.
Stepnowski plated a pair with a two-run triple as part of a three-run sixth inning and scored on an error later in the inning. The senior captain went 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in the victory.
Scranton 16, Keystone 3 (F/5)
Head coach Caitlyn Seamster's team took control of the game with a five-run second inning and scored multiple runs in the four of the five innings en route to the 16-3 win.
Each team plated a run in their half of the first inning before the Royals used the five-run second inning to make it a 6-1 game for the time being.
Freshman Celia Totaro (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) knocked in a run with an RBI single in the frame and later scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, senior Bailee Hendricks (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area) came through with an RBI single of her own and an error charged to Keystone CF Isabella Benitez allowed two more runs to score.
After a sac fly from freshman Alexa Bruno (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) in the third inning, Totaro delivered two more runs with a two-run single in the fourth and Stepnowski's two-run triple extended the advantage to 12-1.
Stepnowski drove in two more runs with a two-run single as part of a four-run fifth and freshman Savannah Levine (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) added an RBI single of her own.
Senior Courtney Wellet (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) notched the win in the circle for Scranton as she gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Grace Lorah was charged with six runs (three earned) on four hits and walked six over 1 2/3 IP in the setback for Keystone.
Both Stepnowski (4-4, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, 4 R) and Totaro (4-5, 3 RBI, 4 R) registered four hits apiece for the Royals, while Rochford added three hits and three runs scored.
Scranton is set to take on Thiel College (9 a.m.) and Notre Dame of Maryland (3 p.m.) on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach.
