The University of Scranton softball team is set to open the 2024 season on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader versus Ithaca. First pitch of game one is slated for 1 p.m.
Scranton looks to return to the Landmark postseason after qualifying for a fifth straight season in 2023.
Head coach Caitlyn Seamster's team returns a pair of All-Landmark Conference selections in senior first baseman Sarah Stepnowski (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe)Â and junior outfielder Kylie Rochford (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic). Stepnowski led the team in batting average (.421), home runs (seven) and RBI (33), while Rochford hit .346 in 34 games and went a perfect 10-of-10 on stolen base attempts.
Sophomore infielder Emmie Feltenberger (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts)Â also returns after posting a .301 average with seven doubles, a home run and eight RBI during her first season in the program.
In the circle for the Royals, sophomore Carley Noble (Allentown, N.J./Allentown) led the team in both wins (six) and ERA (3.15) a season ago. Junior Hannah Keane (Randolph, N.J./Randolph)Â added four wins of her own and a 4.35 ERA.
