Men's Soccer Battles Penn State Abington to 0-0 Draw

ABINGTON, Pa – The University of Scranton men's soccer team battled for all 90 minutes, but settled for a 0-0 draw against Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

How it Happened

  • Penn State Abington's Arsene Bado had the game's first quality scoring chance in the third minute, but junior goalie Charlie Smith made the save for the Royals to keep the Nittany Lions off the scoreboard.
  • Both teams threatened again in the middle of the first half, but both goalies made one save within minutes of each other, keeping the game at a scoreless tie.
  • The Royals had a couple of quality shots on goal in the second half, including one in the 87th minute from freshman James Mayo, but the Nittany Lions' goalie Brendan Werner was up to the task, keeping the game tied at 0-0.
