Women's Soccer Battles No. 6 Misericordia to Scoreless Draw

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's soccer team battled No. 6 Misericordia to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night at Weiss Field.

The Basics

  • Records: Scranton (6-0-2), Misericordia (8-1-1)
  • Scranton held Misericordia scoreless for just the second time this season.
How it Happened
  • The Royals pressed the action early, taking four shots in the opening ten minutes but were unable to get on the board.
  • Misericordia had its first shot of the game in the 26th minute but missed wide. 
  • Senior goalkeeper Nicole Olson came up big for Scranton in the second half as she stopped a chance from Misericordia's Emma Sweitzer in the 61st minute. 
  • Scranton won a few corners late in the second half but weren't able to convert on the opportunities. 
Top Performers
  • Olson made four saves, all in the second half, and earned her sixth shutout of the season.
  • Graduate Student Emily Tantala had a strong performance on the defensive end, stopping several attacks from the Cougars.
  • On the offensive side, Graduate Student Niamh Healy led Scranton with three shots.
