Junior forward Matt Capretto of The University of Scranton men's soccer team has been named the Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after leading the Royals to a pair of Landmark Conference shutout victories.
Capretto delivered a breakout performance on Saturday, scoring two goals to help the Royals roll past Elizabethtown, 5–0, at Weiss Field. The forward was efficient in front of goal, converting two of his four shots in just 41 minutes of action.
Earlier in the week, Capretto contributed to Scranton's 2–0 win at Lycoming, recording three shots, including two on target, as the Royals controlled play from start to finish.
Across the two matches, Capretto totaled two goals, four points, and seven shots, sparking a Scranton offense that outscored its opponents 7–0 on the week.
Capretto and the Royals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14, when they host Moravian University in a 7:00 p.m. Landmark Conference matchup at Weiss Field.
