SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's soccer team powered into the Second Round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament with a commanding 4-0 victory over St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Saturday afternoon at Weiss Field. The win marks Scranton's first NCAA Tournament victory since 2016, and the Royals remain unbeaten at 13-0-6 heading into Sunday's regional final.

How It Happened
- Scranton dictated tempo from the opening whistle, controlling possession and outshooting the Golden Eagles 24–11 while placing 12 attempts on goal.
- The Royals struck first in the 41st minute when Luke Roberto intercepted a misplaced pass, drove into the box, and tucked home the opener to give Scranton a 1-0 lead at halftime.
- The lead doubled early in the second half. In the 51st minute, Tyler Colton found Matt Capretto at the top of the six-yard box, where Capretto turned and ripped a left-footed shot inside the far post to make it 2-0.
- Scranton then broke the match open with two goals in a 77-second span.
- In the 80th minute, Cooper Seele beat his defender to the end line and whipped in a low, left-footed cross that found a crashing Aiden Metz, who touched it home for his first career goal.
- Two minutes later Quinn Pipercic ripped a shot from 15 yards out that was pushed wide by the goalkeeper, but Owen Potter slid in at the far post to bury the rebound and close out the scoring.
- Goalkeeper Charlie Smith anchored a strong defensive effort with four saves to preserve the shutout.
