SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's basketball team closed the game on a decisive late run to earn an 83–80 victory over Stevens on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the John Long Center.

How It Happened
- The game featured 12 lead changes and 11 ties as neither team was able to create separation for much of the afternoon. Scranton led 42–39 at halftime behind strong interior play and balanced scoring, but Stevens responded early in the second half to take control and eventually build an eight-point lead with just over four minutes remaining.
- Facing a 76–68 deficit at the 4:27 mark, the Royals delivered their biggest stretch of the game when it mattered most. Scranton closed the contest on a 15–4 run over the final 4:27, fueled by defensive stops, timely shooting, and poise at the free-throw line.
- Sammy Tornabene sparked the rally with a layup and later knocked down a key three-pointer to pull Scranton within one possession. Will Marion followed with a clutch three off a turnover to tie the game at 78–78 with just over two minutes remaining.
- From there, Tornabene converted at the line to give Scranton the lead, and after Stevens briefly tied the game, Marion delivered again with a strong finish in the paint to put the Royals ahead for good. Jon Spatola sealed the win by knocking down a critical free throw in the final seconds, while Scranton forced a contested miss on the final Stevens possession.
