Gorski's Career Night Leads No. 3 Women's Basketball to 82-40 Win Against Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA -- Sophomore Katie Gorski scored a career-high 17 points to lead The University of Scranton women's basketball team to a dominant 82-40 Landmark Conference win at Moravian University on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
  • Scranton opened the game on a 9-0 run, capped off by a three from graduate student Maddie Hartnett
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Bennett scored seven straight points in the middle stages of the first period to put Scranton up 22-6. 
  • Hartnett hit another three at the end of the first to put Scranton up 29-8.
  • The Lady Royals out scored Moravian 13-4 in the second period, led by Gorski with five, including a three at the 4:55 mark. 
  • Sophomore Meghan Lamanna connected from deep to open up the second half and Scranton a 45-12 lead. 
  • Bennett scored six consecutive points late in the third quarter as Scranton held a 61-24 lead with one period remaining. 
  • Gorski and fellow sophomore Natalie Stoupakis combined for the first 16 points of the fourth quarter for Scranton. 
  • Freshman Lizzie Halligan added a three and graduate student Allie Lynch converted a layup to close out the scoring for the Lady Royals in the 82-40 victory. 
Top Performers
  • Gorski led the way with a career-high 17 points on 5-6 from the field. 
  • Bennett added 13 points for her ninth straight game in double figures.
  • Junior Kaci Kranson, Hartnett, and Stoupakis all scored 10 each. 
Inside the Box Score
  • Scranton shot 48.4% from the field and 35% from three.
  • The Lady Royals scored 42 points in the paint. 
  • Scranton scored 25 fast break points.
