SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's basketball team out scored Johns Hopkins University 21-12 in the fourth quarter en route to a 52-46 victory in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 on Friday night at the John Long Center.

- The Lady Royals advance to the Elite Eight for the second straight year and will face off against No. 23 The University of Wisconsin-Stout (22-7) tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. at the John Long Center.
- Wisconsin-Stout defeated No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater 62-56 to advance to the Elite Eight.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Kyra Quigley and junior Kaeli Romanowski scored Scranton's first eight points of the game as the Lady Royals held an 8-7 lead with 5:59 remaining in the first period.
- Hopkins followed with a 6-0 run to take a 13-8 lead.
- The Blue Jays increased their lead to seven at the end of the first quarter, 19-12.
- Scranton came out strong to open up the second period as a layup from Quigley and back-to-back threes from sophomore Meghan Lamanna and junior Kaci Kranson helped the Lady Royals regain the lead at the 8:27 mark, 20-19, and forced Hopkins to call a timeout.
- The two sides didn't score another basket until Hopkins broke the drought at the 1:46 mark .
- The Blue Jays led by one at halftime, 23-22.
- Graduate student Maddie Hartnett scored a pair of buckets early in the third quarter to keep the Lady Royals close to Hopkins.
- Hopkins pulled away to a five point lead late in the third quarter, 34-29, but a jumper from Kranson brought Scranton within three to close out the period.
- Hartnett started the scoring in the fourth for Scranton as she grabbed a rebound off a missed three from Kranson and scored an easy lay up to bring the Lady Royals within one, 34-33.
- Kranson followed with a lay up of her own to give Scranton a one point advantage.
- Quigley scored a bucket in the paint off an assist from Romanowski to put Scranton up 37-34 with 7:51 remaining.
- With the Lady Royals up four at the 3:48 mark, Hartnett hit a clutch three from the corner off a feed from Quigley to give Scranton a seven point lead.
- Hartnett assisted Quigley on a lay up on the following Scranton possession to put the Lady Royals up nine.
- Hopkins got within four with 27 seconds remaining, but Scranton's defense held strong down the stretch and Kranson hit two clutch free throws in the final 20 seconds to ice the win for the Lady Royals, 52-46.

- Quigley led Scranton in scoring with 13 points on 6-8 from the field while adding six boards and a team-high three blocks.
- Kranson posted her second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
