MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team was defeated by Montclair State University on Wednesday evening, 7-6.

How it Happened
- The Royals started the game strong with a goal in the opening 30 seconds from junior Quinn Carson.
- Scranton tacked on another goal at the 9:03 mark of the first period as sophomore Tommy Tremarco found the back of the net to put his squad up 2-0.
- Montclair State scored three consecutive goals to close out the opening period with a 3-2 lead.
- Sophomore Brendan Donohue tied the game up at 3-3 less than two minutes into the second quarter as he scored his first goal of the season.
- Less than a minute later, junior Kyle Holmes scored to give Scranton the lead, 4-3.
- The Red Hawks went on another 3-0 run to close out the second period and take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
- Senior Colin Hughes brought Scranton within one at the 10:00 mark in the third as he scored off an assist from Tremarco.
- Neither side could find the back of the net until 6:45 in the fourth period when Montclair State took a 7-5 lead.
- Carson scored his second goal of the game and cut the lead back down to one with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.
- The Royals fired off two shots in the final five minutes but weren't able to notch an equalizer as the Red Hawks went on to win, 7-6.
