MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The University of Scranton baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Messiah University on Saturday (8-1, 14-5).

How it Happened
- Messiah scored two runs in the second inning and four runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead.
- Senior Jake Elston scored Scranton's lone run of the first game on a sacrifice fly from fellow senior TJ Pleban.Â
- The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the fourth to close out the scoring in the game.Â
- Messiah recorded nine hits in the game while Scranton had two.
Top Performers
- Junior Aidan Casey went 2-4 at the plate.
- Graduate student Ryan Walsh pitched the final two innings of the game and didn't allow a run.Â

How it Happened
- Casey walked in the top of the first and advanced to second and third on a passed ball and a wild pitch before scoring on a sacrifice fly from junior John Heitzman to put Scranton up 1-0.Â
- With the bases loaded in the top of the second, Casey was hit by a pitch and junior Vincent Napolitano scored the Royals' second run of the game.
- Messiah scored eight runs in the bottom of the second and tacked on five more in the fifth to take a 14-2 lead.Â
- Heitzman scored on a passed ball in the ninth for Scranton's third run.
- Senior Pat Coyne scored on an RBI from sophomore James Nitti for the Royals' fourth run.
- Freshman Nick Hernandez singled through the right side to score sophomore Jimmy Lundari for the final run of the game.

- Casey, Heitzman, Nitti, and Hernandez each recorded one RBI.Â
- Sophomores John DeStefano and Mason Fischer and freshman Chris Correll pitched the final 3.1 innings and combined for 0 runs allowed and 1 hit.Â
