SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's basketball team posted a 70-49 victory over Bates College in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament at the John Long Center on Saturday night.
The Basics
	- Final Score: No. 3 Scranton - 70, Bates - 49
 
	- Records: No. 3 Scranton (28-1), Bates (17-10)
 
	- With the win the Lady Royals advance to the Sweet 16 where they'll face off against Johns Hopkins University on Friday, March 14 at a site yet to be determined.

How it Happened
	- Graduate student Kyra Quigley opened the game with a tough and-one and converted the free throw to put Scranton up 3-0.
 
	- Bates stayed close to Scranton for the first five minutes of the first quarter but back-to-back threes from sophomores Elizabeth Bennett and Meghan Lamanna followed by a jumper from graduate student Maddie Hartnett put Scranton up 17-11. 
 
	- The Lady Royals closed the opening period with a 7-0 lead and led 24-13 at the end of the first.
 
	- Junior Kaci Kranson paced Scranton with eight points in the first period. 
 
	- Scranton went on an 11-0 run to open up the second quarter, including six points from Kranson. 
 
	- The Lady Royals out scored Bates 16-7 in the seventh and held a 20 point lead at halftime, 40-20.
 
	- Bates cut the lead to 15 in the early stages of the third quarter but Scranton responded with a jumper from Kranson and a three from Lamanna to regain a 20 point advantage.
 
	- Junior Kaeli Romanowski recorded two steals that resulted in fast break lay ups on the other end in the third period.
 
	- Scranton held a 59-38 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
 
	- Hartnett hit a three midway through the fourth to put Scranton back up 21.
 
	- The Lady Royals held Bates to 11 points in the fourth period and went on to win by a final score of 70-49.
 
Top Performers
	- Kranson recorded her first double-double of the season with a game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds.
 
	- Hartnett and Lamanna each scored 10 points.
 
	- Romanowski posted six points, five assists, and a career-high nine steals. Romanowski is now at 97 steals, two shy of breaking the single-season program record.
 
	- Bennett scored nine points and added four boards.
 
Inside the Box Score
	- Scranton out rebounded Bates 35-30.
 
	- The Lady Royals shot 43.4% from the field and 37.5% from three.
 
	- Scranton recorded 11 steals, led by Romanowski with nine.
