WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The University of Scranton baseball team split a double header with the Lycoming College Warriors on Sunday afternoon in Williamsport.

How it Happened
- Lycoming took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single.
- The Royals responded in the sixth inning with a pair of runs to go in front. Junior John Heitzman drove in Scranton's first run on a sacrifice-fly, and graduate student Matthew Querey ripped an RBI double to give the Royals a 2-1 lead.
- The Warriors answered with a four-run bottom of the sixth inning, retaking the lead with a three-run home run and adding to that with a bases-loaded hit by pitch to extend the lead to 5-2.
- Sophomore Jared Cassella tripled home a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Lycoming lead to two runs, but Scranton couldn't muster up any more offense as the Royals fell 5-3.

- Casella went 3-5 with an RBI and one run scored.
- Querey had two hits and one RBI.

How it Happened
- Scranton's offense got off to a red-hot start, scoring five runs in the first inning. With Heitzman and Cassella on base, senior Jake Elston drove them in with a base hit up the middle to put Scranton ahead 2-0.
- Sophomore Jake Lopez then brought home two with a single and advanced to second on an error, and senior TJ Pleban drove in Lopez with a single to cap off a five-run first inning.
- Lycoming got on the board with sacrifice-flys in the second inning and the fifth inning to cut Scranton's lead down to 5-2.
- In the top of the sixth inning, Heitzman drove in the sixth run of the game for Scranton with an RBI single.
- Lycoming answered in the bottom of the sixth inning, getting the run back from a solo home run.
- Lopez singled in senior Pat Coyne with a base hit in the seventh to put Scranton up by four runs.
- The Royals continued scoring in the eighth inning as Heitzman ripped an RBI double and Elston slashed an RBI single to make it 9-3 Royals.

- Heitzman had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Elston drove in a team-high three runs on two hits.
- Freshman Eli Peifer pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out two batters.
