HANOVER, MD -- The University of Scranton baseball team split with Catholic University in a Landmark Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
The Basics

Game 1: Catholic - 10, Scranton - 5
How it Happened
- The Cardinals took an early lead in the bottom of the first as they put up five runs on four hits.
- Scranton scored its first run of the game in the top of the second as senior Pat Coyne hit a sacrifice fly that scored junior John Heitzman.
- The Royals got within two in the top of the fourth as Coyne and fellow senior Jake Elston both recorded an RBI.
- Catholic tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-3 lead.
- Sophomore Jake Lopez hit a two run home run in the top of the seventh to get Scranton back within three of the Cardinals.Â
- Catholic scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to close out the scoring in the game and secure a 10-5 victory.

- Lopez hit his second homer of the year and went 2-4 with a pair of RBI.
- Coyne drove in two runs.

Game 2: Scranton - 13, Catholic - 9
How it Happened
- Junior Conor Campbell got the scoring going for the Royals with an RBI double to right field that scored Elston.
- Heitzman drove in Campbell later in the inning with an RBI ground out to first base.
- A solo home run from the Cardinals in the bottom of the first cut Scranton's lead to 2-1.Â
- Heitzman hit a two-run homer down the right field line in the top of the third to put Scranton up 4-1.Â
- The Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the third and added a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up at 4-4.
- Campbell drove in Elston with an RBI single to center field to give the Royals a 5-4 advantage in the top of the fifth.Â
- Catholic scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead 7-5.
- Scranton tacked on three runs on three hits in the top of the seventh to regain the lead, 8-7.
- The Cardinals responded with two runs in the bottom of the eighth and took an 9-8Â lead over Scranton.
- Lopez hit an RBI double to left center that scored graduate student Matthew Querey and tied the game up at 9-9.
- Scranton capitalized on poor pitching from Catholic in the top of the ninth to take a 13-9 lead and secured the win in the bottom of the ninth with three consecutive outs.

- Campbell went 3-5 with three RBI.
