Softball Takes Game Two 5-4 to Split Double Header Against King's

WILKES BARRE, PA - The University of Scranton softball team split a doubleheader against King's College on Monday afternoon in Wilkes Barre.

  • King's scored the only run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning.

How it Happened

  • Senior Madison DeStefano brought home the first run of the game after drawing a bases-loaded walk in the first inning and then classmate Hannah Keane ripped a single to make it 2-0 Scranton.
  • Freshman Hailey Poskonka drove in the third run of the inning with a ground out, and sophomore Ellyn Cervona singled up the middle to make it 4-0 Scranton in the first inning.
  • King's scored three runs on a two-RBI single and a sacrifice fly in the third inning to cut Scranton's lead to 4-3.
  • Senior Alyssa Mosconi doubled home Totaro with two outs in the top of the fourth inning to extend the Royals' lead to 5-3.
  • King's scored once in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Monarchs stranded one runner on base as Scranton held on to win 5-4.

Top Performers

  • Mosconi had three hits and one RBI.
  • Keane went 2-4 with one RBI.
  • Freshman Kiley Mullins struck out three batters and allowed just one run in five innings in relief.
