WILKES BARRE, PA -- The University of Scranton baseball team fell short at Wilkes University despite a late-game rally on Tuesday.

How it Happened
- The Royals cut into an early 2-0 deficit in the third inning when freshman Nick Hernandez lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home senior TJ Pleban.
- Wilkes responded with a big fifth inning, stringing together four hits, a sacrifice fly, and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to take a 7-1 lead.
- In the top of the sixth, senior Pat Coyne ripped a single to right field that scored two.
- Senior Jake Elston hit an RBI triple in the seventh that scored Pleban. Later in the inning, Elston scored on a double by junior Conor Campbell to make it 7-5.
- Wilkes held off the rally, keeping Scranton off the board the rest of the way.
