Former University of Scranton baseball standout Tom Sohns '76 has been selected as part of the 14th class to be inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame as announced by the MAC office.
Sohns distinguished himself as one of the best baseball players in University of Scranton history. A multiple-time All-MAC First Team selection, Sohns reached the top of collegiate recognition in 1976 when he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America First Team. His stellar collegiate career earned him a place on the prestigious MAC 100 All-Century Baseball Team, solidifying his status as one of the top players of his era.
Beyond collegiate success, Sohns showcased his talent on the international stage as a member of Team USA, capturing a gold medal at the 1975 Pan-American Games. His accomplishments led to his selection by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1976 MLB Draft, and he went on to spend five years playing professionally in the Reds' minor league system.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Scranton, Tom Sohns was inducted into the University of Scranton Athletics Wall of Fame in 1987.
