MADISON, N.J. – The University of Scranton men's swimming team turned in a competitive performance on Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 152–135 dual meet loss to Drew University.
Scranton earned several individual event victories, led by Will Tagliareni, who captured first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.26. Jake Brunetti added a win for the Royals in the 200-yard backstroke, touching first in 1:55.42.
The Royals showed their depth in the distance events, sweeping the top three spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Jimmy O'Malley won the event in 9:57.43, followed by Christopher Clarke and Steven Detwiler.
Scranton dominated the diving events, as Liam Malanowski won both the one-meter (160.35) and three-meter (165.90) dives. Alexander Rom added a second-place finish on the one-meter board.
The Royals also posted strong relay performances, finishing second in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay to round out the meet.
Scranton will now prepare for the Landmark Conference Championships from Feb. 12-15 at Loyola Maryland Aquatic Center.
