Alexandra Schaul fired an 81 to finish second overall, and The University of Scranton women's golf team defeated King's College while taking second behind Wilkes University, 370-380, in a quad match Sunday afternoon at Wyoming Valley Country Club.
Wilkes shot a program-low 370 to claim the team title, finishing 10 strokes ahead of the Royals. Scranton, in turn, topped King's College by 55 strokes, as the Monarchs finished with a 435. Misericordia University also competed but fielded only two individuals, so it did not post a team score. Scranton is 1-1 on the season in matches.
Wilkes' Kyleen McCance won the individual title with a two-over 73, which included birdies on holes 3, 12 and 17. Schaul finished eight shots behind her to lead the Royals and take second overall.
Emily Davis was Scranton's next best finisher with a 91, followed by Mara Bilenski, who carded a 96. Emma Sforza shot a 112 to complete the Royals' team total of 380, while Emily Biko added a 117. King's was led by Siene Andersen, who shot a 93.
Scranton will get another shot at Wilkes in a dual match on Monday at Wyoming Valley Country Club.
