The No. 1 seed University of Scranton field hockey team will host No. 4 seed Elizabethtown
College at Weiss Field on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in the Landmark Conference Semifinals.
Scranton enters the semifinal matchup with a 15-2 overall record and a perfect 9-0 mark in Landmark Conference play, earning the top seed in the tournament. The Royals will look to return to the Landmark Championship game for the fourth consecutive season as they pursue their second straight conference title and fourth overall.
Elizabethtown enters the contest at 13-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play after earning an 8-0 victory over No. 5 seed Drew in Saturday's first-round matchup. The Blue Jays will look to advance to the championship game for the third time in program history and first since capturing their only Landmark title in 2016.
The Royals and Blue Jays met earlier this season at Weiss Field, where Scranton earned a 5-0 victory behind goals from
Olivia Burdo,
Maggie Keys,
Shana Goldsmith,
Kate McKillop, and
Julia Opperman. Scranton and Elizabethtown have met twice previously in Landmark Conference postseason play, with both meetings coming in the semifinal round. The Royals earned a victory in 2019, while the Blue Jays came out on top in 2016. Interestingly, both teams went on to capture the Landmark Conference title in their respective seasons after defeating the other in the semifinals.
The winner of Tuesday's semifinal match will advance to the Landmark Championship on Saturday against the winner of No. 2 seed Catholic University and No. 6 seed Susquehanna University.
Admission to Tuesday night's game is $10 for adults (18+), $5 for minors (10-17) and free for children under 10 and Landmark students/faculty with ID.
