SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team narrowly defeated Muhlenberg College, 9-8, for its first win of the season on Wednesday evening at Weiss Field in Scranton.

How it Happened
- After Muhlenberg opened the scoring just 1:24 into the game, Scranton responded with a pair of goals to take the lead. First, Cooper Roberts scored an unassisted goal and then Jason Kozak took a feed from Quinn Carson and scored to put the Royals ahead 2-1.
- Muhlenberg responded with three straight goals in the first 8:25 of the second quarter to take a 4-2 advantage.
- With 5:53 left in the first half, Carson found Kozak who scored his second goal of the night to get Scranton within one goal at 4-3.
- The Royals opened the second half strong, scoring the first two goals of the period. Shawn Martin, directly after winning the opening face off of the third quarter, went to goal and scored to tie the game on his first career goal. One minute later, Kozak found Kyle Holmes who drilled the shot to give Scranton the lead at 5-4.
- The Muhles quickly tied the game at five at the 10:50 mark, but goals from Tommy Tremarco and David Dubas put Scranton back ahead heading into the final frame.
- Roberts scored twice to open the fourth quarter, once at the 10:43 mark and again at the 8:58 mark, putting Scranton up by three with nine minutes left in the game.
- While Muhlenberg scored a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the game, Scranton's defense was able to hold on to win 9-8. Senior goalie Declan Allen tied a career-high with 18 saves in the victory, including seven saves in the fourth quarter, earning his first win since 2024.
