Scranton Baseball Falls to Franklin & Marshall, 10-5

DAVENPORT, FL -- The University of Scranton baseball team battled hard but fell to Franklin & Marshall College, 10-5 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon. 

The Basics

How it Happened

  • Franklin & Marshall jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Matt Hollender singled to drive in Nolan McCloskey, and a three-RBI triple from Gideon Schwartz extended the Diplomats' advantage to 4-0.
  • Scranton responded in the second when Jimmy Lundari reached on a fielding error, allowing Joey Granko to score. The Royals added two more in the fifth as Granko singled in Conor Campbell, and Logan Mason drove in John Heitzman to pull within 4-3.
  • The Diplomats answered with a five-run fifth and added more in the sixth, taking a 10-3 lead. Scranton finished the game with a late rally in the ninth, highlighted by a two-run homer from Vincent Napolitano, driving in Heitzman to cap the scoring at 10-5.
