AUBURNDALE, Fl. -- The University of Scranton baseball team rolled past The University of Hartford, 8-5, finishing its Spring break trip with a 5-1 record and improving to 10-4 this year.

How it Happened
- Hartford got on the board in the first inning, scoring a pair of runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to grab a 2-0 lead.
- Scranton responded in the top of the second inning when Jared Cassella knocked in Joey Granko with a two-out single to make it 2-1 Hawks.
- In the third inning, John Heitzman hit a sacrifice-fly to bring home Conor Campbell to tie the game at 2-2.
- The Royals grabbed their first lead of the day in the top of the fifth inning. Campbell and Jack Portman each worked one-out walks, and Granko drew a free pass two batters later to load the bases with two outs. Matthew Gannon then delivered a bases-clearing triple to put Scranton ahead, 5-2.
- Portman drove in another Scranton run with an RBI single in the sixth to extend the lead 6-2.
- The Royals added another run in the seventh. Granko led off the inning with a triple and scored on a Gannon sacrifice-fly to extend the lead to five runs.
- Hartford scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to cut the Royals' lead to 7-3, but Scranton got it right back in the top of the ninth when James Nitti singled home Aidan Casey to push the lead back to five runs.
- The Hawks plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth on a 2 run single, but Logan Mason struck out Tyler Shannon to secure an 8-5 win for Scranton.
