Scranton Softball Drops Doubleheader at Catholic

The University of Scranton softball team was swept in a Landmark Conference doubleheader at Catholic University, dropping game one, 5-2, before falling in game two, 5-1, on Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

  • Scranton mounted a late rally in the seventh as Gianna Muliero doubled to lead off the inning. Gabriella Gorzkowski followed with an RBI single, and Mollie Ferreira later drove in a run to cut the deficit to 5-2, but the Royals could not complete the comeback.

  • Catholic jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run double to take control at 4-0.
  • The Cardinals added a solo home run in the third inning to extend the lead to 5-0.

  • The Royals broke through in the seventh when Hailey Poskonka scored on a sacrifice fly by Emmie Feltenberger to cut the deficit to 5-1.
