How it Happened
- Scranton struck first in the top of the fifth to take a 1-0 lead. After Roman Valvano reached on an infield single and advanced to second on an error, Conor Campbell moved him to third single of his own, and a Jared Cassella sacrifice fly brought Valvano home, giving the Royals the lead.
- The Royals added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Aidan Casey led off the inning with a double to left field and Valvano followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Casey scored on a Campbell sacrifice fly, and Logan Mason followed by driving in Valvano with an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
- With two outs and a runner on first base in the eighth inning, Ryan Boyd entered in relief of Kieran Lodewick, who struck out three batters over 1.1 innings. Boyd stranded the inherited runner to end the frame and then tossed a scoreless ninth to earn the save and secure the Royals' 3-0 victory.
