The University of Scranton softball team had five student athletes earn All-Landmark Conference honors, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Freshman Gianna Muliero was named Landmark Rookie of the Year, while Emma Douglas earned All-Conference First Team honors. Muliero and Mollie Ferreira were selected to the All-Landmark Second Team, and Gabriella Gorzkowski and Daniela Brescia received All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition.
Gianna Muliero – Rookie of the Year / Second Team All-Conference
- After a strong freshman season, Muliero earned Landmark Rookie of the Year. The freshman is the third Royal to win the award, joining Jennifer Sweeney in 2018 and Sara Stepnowski in 2021 to earn the honors.
- Muliero led Scranton with a .363 average, 12 doubles, and was tied for the team lead in RBI with 24.
- The freshman finished tied for fourth in the Landmark Conference in doubles and tied for 10th in RBI.
Emma Douglas – First Team All-Conference
- Douglas collected All-Conference honors for the first time in her career.
- The sophomore enjoyed a breakout campaign in her second season with the Royals, appearing in 25 games and making 19 starts while posting a 1.94 ERA, 131 strikeouts, and a 14-6 record with 16 complete games.
- She established a new single-season program record for strikeouts and led the Landmark Conference in punchouts, complete games, and innings pitched. Douglas also finished fourth in the conference in ERA to cap an impressive season.
Mollie Ferreira – Second Team All-Conference
- Ferreira earned All-Conference honors following an impressive freshman campaign.
- She batted .326 with eight doubles, one home run, and 16 RBI in her first season with Scranton. She tied for third in the conference with four triples and ranked 10th with 43 hits and 18 runs scored.
- Ferreira tallied 12 multi-hit games and registered at least one hit in 26 contests during the season.
Gabriella Gorzkowski – Honorable Mention
- Gorzkowski earned All-Conference honors following a strong freshman season.
- The Pittston, Pa., native batted .287 with 27 hits, 10 doubles, one home run, and 24 RBI in her first year with the program.
- She finished the season tied for eighth in the Landmark Conference in doubles and tied for 10th in RBI.
Daniela Brescia – Honorable Mention
- Brescia earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career.
- The New Milford, N.J., native batted .250 with a .330 on-base percentage, totaling 23 hits, two doubles, and 18 RBI during her second year with Scranton.
