The University of Scranton men's soccer team improved to 3-0-1 on the season with a 2-1 win over SUNY New Paltz on Friday at Weiss Field. The Royals built a two-goal cushion in the first half and held on down the stretch to remain unbeaten.

How It Happened
- Scranton opened the scoring at 26:48 when Nick Suraci played a through ball up the left side to Matt Capretto, who hit it first time. The goalkeeper got a touch on it, but the shot had enough power to beat him into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead — Capretto's first goal of the season.
- The lead grew just under 11 minutes later at 37:43, as Zach Kilpatrick sent a through ball up the right side to Quinn Pipercic, who cut back past a defender and ripped a left-footed shot into the far corner to make it 2-0 heading into halftime — also Pipercic's first goal of the season.
- SUNY New Paltz answered early in the second half, with David Lamour scoring off an assist from Ryan Zindler at 46:31 to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- Scranton's defense tightened up from there, holding New Paltz scoreless the rest of the way to preserve the one-goal win.
