Opened on August 31, 2018, Weiss Field is the home of The University of Scranton men's and women's soccer programs, field hockey team, and men's and women's lacrosse teams.Â
The facility features a 75- by 120-yard, synthetic-turf, multi-purpose field, with 776 bleacher seats, field lighting, and a press box. In its short history, it has already hosted numerous events, including the 2018 Landmark Conference women's soccer championship match and Landmark playoff matches for both lacrosse programs.Â
Weiss Field is named in honor of University Trustee Robert Weiss '68 and his wife, Marilyn.Â
A native of nearby Lake Ariel, Weiss is the former president and CEO of The Cooper Companies (NYSE:COO) Pleasanton, California, a multinational manufacturer and marketer of specialty health care products that operates through two business units, CooperVision and CooperSurgical. During his distinguished 39-year career with The Cooper Companies, he served as chief operating officer, chief financial officer, corporate controller, and treasurer at Cooper, as well as president of CooperVision and a member of the company's board of directors. He retired as president and CEO of The Cooper Companies in 2018, but remains on the Cooper Board of Directors. He is also a member of the board of directors for Accuray Incorporated, a global radiosurgery leader. He was recognized in CEO Magazine for 40 Best Companies for Leaders for four years (2011-2014).Â
A former U.S. Army Captain who was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal during his service in Vietnam, Weiss is a certified public accountant and earned his bachelor's degree in accounting at the University. In 2008, he received the University's Frank J. O'Hara Distinguished Alumni Award. He is also a member of the University's President's Circle and Estate Society.
A native of Scranton, Marilyn Weiss, the former Marilyn Chesick, studied at the University through the Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing. She served as head nurse at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York and as a pediatric nurse at Bayside Pediatrics in Pleasanton. She is now active with the Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre in Pleasanton.

Take the Central Scranton Expressway (Exit 185 off Interstate 81 North & South). Follow for approximately 1/2 mile and take right onto the Cedar Avenue Exit. At the stop sign, make a right onto Cedar Avenue and then an immediate sharp left after 100 yards onto Mattes Avenue. Follow Mattes Avenue as it curls to the right to a stop light. Go straight through the stop light and the athletics campus will be one-tenth of a mile ahead.
PETS: All pets must be leashed at all times. Pets are not allowed in the bleachers at any time, with the exception of certified service animals. Owners must clean up after their pets. Failure to do so will result in the loss of pet privileges at the Quinn Athletics Campus.
